Ingredients:

  • For the Gyro Meat:

    • 1 lb chicken, lamb, or beef (or a mix)
    • 2 tbsp olive oil
    • 1 tsp garlic powder
    • 1 tsp onion powder
    • 1 tsp dried oregano
    • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
    • 1/2 tsp paprika
    • Salt and pepper, to taste
    • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • For the Tacos:

    • 4-6 small soft flour or corn tortillas
    • 1 cup shredded lettuce
    • 1 cup diced tomatoes
    • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
    • 1/4 cup sliced cucumber
    • Fresh parsley or dill (optional)
  • For the Tzatziki Sauce:

    • 1 cup Greek yogurt
    • 1 tbsp lemon juice
    • 1 small cucumber, grated and excess water squeezed out
    • 1 tbsp olive oil
    • 1 clove garlic, minced
    • 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped (or dried)
    • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Gyro Meat:

    • In a bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, cumin, paprika, salt, pepper, and lemon juice. Add the meat and coat it thoroughly with the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to overnight in the fridge).
    • Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and cook the marinated meat for about 5-7 minutes per side (depending on thickness), until it’s cooked through and has a nice sear. Let it rest before slicing thinly.
  2. Make the Tzatziki Sauce:

    • In a bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, dill, salt, and pepper. Adjust seasoning as needed and set aside.
  3. Assemble the Tacos:

    • Warm the tortillas in a skillet or microwave.
    • Place a few slices of the cooked gyro meat in the center of each tortilla.
    • Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cucumber slices, and red onions.
    • Drizzle generously with the tzatziki sauce and garnish with fresh parsley or dill.
  4. Serve and Enjoy:

    • Serve the Greek Gyro Tacos immediately, with extra tzatziki sauce on the side if desired.
